These are a couple of close-up details from the print resolution version of my picture "Jeepers Creepers".

The whole image, which is another Deviation, was rendered in 3D Studio Max using a few plugins for materials (Ground Crew, Essential Textures) and smoke (Afterburn). The rocky cavern was displacement mapped using procedural textures. I rendered one full frame (at over 6000 pixels wide), as well as a variation on the left side with slightly different lighting; the smoke is based on several frames mixed together, and all the layers were composited together and retouched in Photoshop.
